President Trump says he is determined to construct a wall on the U.S.- Mexico border and this month he will close down the administration, except if Congress pays for it. The president hosted a televised meeting with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. He said he would be glad to close down the administration except if he gets, quote, “what we need, one way or the other.”
Member of the US House of Representatives from Ohio, Warren Davidson, has proposed to release a cryptocurrency to finance the construction of the US-Mexican wall.
Davidson believes that it is necessary to launch a crowdfunding campaign or release a cryptocurrency called WallCoin so that the construction of the wall could be financed by “residents of the United States and everyone else.”
“You could do with this sort of, like, a crowdfunding site. Or you could even do blockchain, and you could have wall coins. But you could raise the money. And frankly, if we get it right at the Treasury, you could even accept Mexican pesos,” said Davidson.
However, he noted that the raised funds will not allow the construction of a wall along the entire border with Mexico.
“If you look at the areas where you have secured them with walls, 5 billion isn’t going to build a wall like the Great Wall of China. I mean, this is going to build secure fences, which was incredibly bipartisan when it was called the Secure Fences Act,” he added.
How far the congressmen’s initiative will go is still unknown. Note, Warren Davidson is a supporter of cryptocurrency. Earlier, he held a round-table event with more than 80 representatives from both the crypto and finance industries to discuss possible legislation for initial coin offerings.
Earlier, ForkLog reported that US congressmen proposed to develop a roadmap to regulate cryptocurrency.
