Facebook’s Chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is facing the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services to testify in regards of Libra — also known as Facebook’s cryptocurrency.
In the last couple of weeks, international regulators including the United States have expressed concerns over the project’s ability to positively impact on the lives of end users. Moreover, some U.S. congressmen have urged members of the Libra Association, such as Paypal and Stripe, to withdraw from this initiative.
In the last couple of weeks, key players have left Facebook’s project due to the increasing governmental pressure and potential consequences for their businesses. Today, Zuckerberg will be reading prepared remarks on the matter to clarify the official position of the company and emphasise Libra’s positive disruptive potential.
