- Deloitte Report: Businesses Who Don’t Consider Blockchain ‘Risk Falling Behind’
Audit and consulting firm Deloitte has issued a report on the blockchain’s critical role in the retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry of the near future. Having analyzed over 50 potential blockchain use cases, Deloitte believes that the emerging technologies will have a colossal influence on the industry’s development.
Centered around the retail and CPG supply-chains, Deloitte’s report foresees a blockchain-based solution to the industry’s major “pain points”: traceability, compliance, stakeholder management, and flexibility. The report warns businesses against neglecting blockchain technologies, stating they might “fall behind” otherwise.
- Israel Publishes Draft Law Concerning Money Laundering and Cryptocurrency
Israeli finance ministry has published a draft law concerning money laundering through cryptocurrency. Signed by finance minister Moshe Kahlon, the draft is viewed as the country’s step towards the development of cryptocurrency regulation.
The new law will include a provision for digital asset providers and will come into effect on June 1, 2018.
The draft notice to the law explains: “The definition of a service in connection with financial assets is being expanded beyond currency services, to include all activities and services performed by a business in connection with financial assets that does not include credit. <…> Among the financial assets added to the definition is a virtual currency, with the intention of allowing supervision of financial services other than tangible assets or standard financial means, in a field that has been developing in recent years.”

Bella’s Kitty Den, a marketplace for CryptoKitties, started its “Kitties for a Cause” charity program in April 2018 to raise funds for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. It took the auction just under three weeks to raise over $15,000 in ether tokens.

Recent news article by Finance Magnates reports that Christian Crowley, business analyst of Etherium analytics firm Alethio, estimates an average of 100,000 new users joining Ethereum ecosystem every day. Speaking at “ConsenSys Community Day” in Tel Aviv on May 28, Crowley also pointed out the vast amount of unique ETH addresses in existence (around 29,200,000) and the massive flow of daily transactions processed by Ethereum network (1,000,000 transactions on average).
